Where we go
Start your Alaska yacht charter from Petersburg or Juneau, exploring the waters of Frederick Sound, the glaciers of Tracy or Endicott Arms, and circling the shores of Admiralty Island. We know the best spots to kayak, beach comb or simply spot the humpbacks from up on deck.

We started in Juneau and spent 5 days on the Dauntless, circumnavigating Admiralty Island.
We did so much it’s hard to describe it all but here are some highlights: whale watching (so many whales and so close we could smell their breath which isn’t a good smell), glaciers (the views, polar plunge x 3 & major calving), bear watching (and cubs), guided hikes (berry gathering), fishing and crabbing, beautiful waterfalls all over, painting parties, so many of the most delicious meals we’ve ever had thanks to the incredible Chef Alisa, lighthouse visits, hot cocoa on the bow of the yacht at the Dawes Glacier and I could go on forever! My brain is still wrapping itself around all the memories we just made and experiences we’ve had.
Thank you to the incredible Captain Jim and Chef Alisa for one of the best trips of our lives and their Crew Ines & Mackenzie for making every little detail special. If you have ever even thought of doing an Alaskan Charter these are your people! We’ll be back for sure!!!
One of the biggest reasons the trip was so exceptional was having a local, knowledgeable captain. In Alaska, that makes all the difference. Captain Jim’s knowledge of the waters, wildlife, fishing grounds, hidden coves, hiking trails, and remote places was invaluable. Rather than simply following an itinerary, each day was shaped around the conditions, our interests, and what Alaska was offering that day. That local knowledge allowed us to get to the very best spots — places that felt completely private and untouched.
And the variety was incredible. No two days felt remotely the same. We fished, explored private coves, hiked, had beach BBQs, soaked in natural hot springs, kayaked and paddle boarded, and got incredibly close to massive glaciers. There was always something happening and always another adventure waiting around the corner. We were able to spend the vast majority of the trip outside, immersed in Alaska rather than simply looking at it from a boat.
The wildlife viewing was beyond anything we could have imagined. Over the course of the week, we saw more than 100 humpback whales, including spectacular breaching and bubble-net feeding. We saw approximately 50 black and brown bears, along with Dall’s porpoises, orcas, harbor porpoises, countless bald eagles, sea otters, seals, and sea lions. The sheer abundance of wildlife was astonishing, and the ability to experience it from such a small, private vessel made it even more memorable.
Then there was the food — absolutely unbelievable from the talented Chef Alisa. Our meals combined what we caught and gathered ourselves with an incredible array of herbs and vegetables. Fresh fish from our own fishing, crab we caught, shrimp we collected, and locally inspired ingredients were transformed into meals that felt like events in themselves. Every dinner was a memorable occasion, and the food was every bit as much a part of the adventure as the wildlife and scenery.
We traveled as a multigenerational group of six, including a grandmother and three teenage boys, and Dauntless was perfect for our group. The yacht itself far exceeded our expectations. The pictures online simply do not do her justice. The accommodations are stunning and genuinely luxurious, while still feeling comfortable and inviting. The outdoor spaces are phenomenal, with comfortable seating, heat lamps on the stern, and a hot tub and fire pit on the top deck. Those spaces became our favorite places to relax, watch wildlife, take in the scenery, and talk about each day's epic adventures.
The entire team was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtful, personalized, and effortless. They managed to create a trip that was incredibly adventurous while also being wonderfully comfortable and relaxing.
We have experienced some amazing yacht charters around the world, but Dauntless is in a category of its own. What makes it different is the combination of an exceptional yacht, an outstanding crew, incredible food, and — most importantly — genuine local knowledge that opens the door to a side of Alaska most visitors will never see.
If you are looking for a luxury trip where Alaska itself is the star, I cannot recommend Dauntless highly enough. This is not simply a yacht charter or an Alaska vacation. It is an opportunity to experience the real Alaska — wild, remote, authentic, and unforgettable — with people who know and love it.
We left with incredible photographs, but even they cannot capture what this week was really like. The places we visited and the experiences we shared are the kind of memories that will stay with our family forever.
From our gourmet chef, Alisa, and most knowledgeable and congenial Captain Jim, to our two excellent crew members, Ines and Ali, we were treated like royalty and good friends at the same time. The whole cruise experience is almost beyond description. Seeing bears, Orcas, Humpback whales, porpoises, bald eagles and glaciers (all up close) was beyond description. A once in a lifetime trip for the four of us. Well, twice in a lifetime. We're doing it again next year.
